Primate Watching and Hiking Tour Uganda

TOU\B113 MGAHINGA GOLDEN MONKEYS, VOLCANO HIKING AND LAKE BUNYONYI (5DAYS/ 4NIGHTS)

    DAY 1

You will be picked up from your overnight accommodation and head west via the Uganda Equator where you will stop over, shop for souvenirs, relax and take pictures.
You will then continue to Mbarara where you will have lunch at the Agip Motel and finally head through the beautiful evergreen mountain scenery of south-western Uganda arriving for dinner and an overnight stay at Bunyonyi Safaris Resort. Meal Plan – Lunch and dinner.

    DAY 2

After breakfast, transfer to the historical lepers’ asylum of the 1950s or take a boat ride to visit the local pygmies and be part of ‘local life’. In the afternoon, take a self-guided bird walk in the vicinity of the lodge, which offers spectacular views of the nearby Mgahinga ranges. Meal Plan – Breakfast, lunch and dinner.

    DAY 3

Transfer to Mgahinga Park. Stop over at the viewing platform, which is 800 metres from the park gate. Here you will have a good view of the park and the surrounding areas. Transfer for lunch at the Mgahinga Safari Lodge and check in. In the afternoon, transfer for cave exploration at the Garama Cave which is one of the caves where the Batwa (who were warriors) lived and fought their neighbours, the Bantu. The cave is 342m in length and 14m deep, and is now inhabited only by bats. Return to your accommodations for dinner and overnight at Mgahinga Safari Lodge. Meal Plan – Breakfast, lunch and dinner.

    DAY 4

After breakfast, transfer to the foot of the Mt. Sabyinyo also known as ‘Old Man’s Teeth’. Hike through the ridge along the eastern side of the climb to the peak. You will go past spectacular drops into gorges of Rwanda and Uganda and achieve a dual experience. You are guaranteed to get your hands dirty en-route to peak III! Once on top, you will be in Rwanda, DRC and Uganda at the same time!!! Return for dinner and overnight at Mgahinga Safari Lodge.

    DAY 5


After breakfast, return to Kampala. A picnic lunch will be enjoyed en route.
